Looking for a good pc diagnostic software KIT

Does anyone know of a good pc diagnostic software tool that I can use on a windows XP/Win 7 system? I have checked around and found some conflicting reviews etc, It does not have to be self booting but would be preferred. Id appreciate any input, Normally I diagnose through experience but this is work related and I’m looking for something that can give me solid evidence on HDD\Controller failures’ that are being questioned by our vendor we have our own software but want to try something different, Thanks a

hard drive controller or disk controller

You'd have to check the mobo makers web site for one and the hard drive makers site for the other.

The errors you see below is what we are seeing on about 400 systems they are not consistantly showing up but showing up none the less.

Guessing that you've spent weeks researching this

    And have seen articles like:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244780

And that the following would/could be good news:

In this case, no harmful effects are experienced. For example, Event ID 51 is logged when blank media such as CDR, CDRW, DVDR, and so on, is inserted into a writable drive while a USB device is plugged in. The system logs the event even though the disc is writable, and the USB device is still usable. In these particular cases, you can safely ignore the log entries, and no additional action is required.

This looks like information from a remote computer. There is no indication of a problem with that computer, but if the Remote Registry service is not running on that remote computer you will get this error on your local machine.

Ye we have spent some time looking into it and did go over that KB that you posted and it does look promising, we have been testing a few scenarios etc and have came up blank, we just don’t get how some of the work stations are doing this and some are not, I have had a few of my co workers replace the drives on about 10 machines and funny enough the error stops reporting if you perform a reimage within a day or two they start reporting disk errors in Netcool (Monitoring System), I guess that’s was puzzling me most. I mean we do get allot but some are accompanied with Minidumps as in 175 Minidumps within a week and we can pretty much eliminate those and fix them.
