tip for all you uk buyers out there you can get you company to buy a pc, components up to the value of £500 tax free. i did this the other week.
new amd xp 2000+ and coolermaster heat & fan, case, motherboard with sound and network, 512mb ram, hard drive all for the sum of £300.
what you do is get the parts less VAT (17.5%) and then get them to take it out of your gross wage, making another saving of 40%.
still got £200 to go which means £400 retail to spend.
new geforce4 ti4600 i think.
this is not a scam it's the government wanting everyone to have a computer and internet access.
after april it all start's again.

If you're in BC, I would recommend Fly Computers. I have bought almost everything in my two computers from then and I have had NO problems. Their prices are also lower, sometimes a lot, on many items. It's a hour drive each way for me to get there, but I think it's worth it because they have really good parts. They also seem to actually know about computers. There not a bunch of retards like the kind you find at london drugs or something.

As someone who has also spent 'loads of time out in the USA' I would agree in general that prices of computer related products are much the same but if anything slightly cheaper in the UK. As for the other of your illustrations, its swings and roundabouts, some things are cheaper, some more expensive.
I don't think your remark 'the lousy old UK' was necessary and wish you luck in your quest for a visa.
4.10 British Pound = 5.87 US Dollar
5.15 US Dollar = 3.59 British Pound

Well I don't know what you Yanks and Canadians have to gripe about. Trying looking at the prices in Europe. The British economy is the strongest in the world at present yet were paying almost twice for our cards compared to you. Whose screwing who?
There is a very close tally between prices in $ in US and prices in £ in UK, but given the current exchange rate, were paying lots lots more. UK is a rip off economy. Given most of these cards are made in the Far East, who are the faceless middle men taking all our money?

I got pie!!!
Geesh, we're all the same ? Always wanting something for nothing, or next to nothing.
Only way to get anything is to save or get a credit card.
If you look hard enough, a bargain sometimes appears. I bet G3's will be about 100 bucks in less than twelve months. Thats when I will get one. Unless some fool credit card company lets me have another one.

dodsimz, don't you get Future Shop flyers??? Like 2 weeks ago they had a VisionTek Xtasy 6564 Geforce3 Ti200 on sale for $330 - $100 in rebates! I went out and bought one of the cards the next day. $100 is a lot of money to me. That was a really good deal. Well, I guess you'll have to look around and actually check those flyers, Future Shop seems to have a decent price on something every week, although it is usually on only one item.

No! I HATE it!
It's fine, but needs a little animation. I'm looking for a GIF of a little stick man sitting at a PC desk on a diamond caution sign. He's slamming his head on his keyboard.

In Australia the prices aren't to bad but in the last few years the dollar has gone form 70 cents a dollar to only 50 now.
Also GST has been introduced which adds 10% to products.
So lately the prices have gone up but aren't too bad compared to USA.
