    Removing Power Supply

Is there anyway to remove a power supply from a compaq computer? The reason I ask is because i read a label that said "Do not remove cover not serviceable component inside" on the power supply cover.

that sticker is on virtually every PSU ever made. It is suggesting not to open the cover and enter the actual PSU itself. It has large transformers and capictors, that if you don't know what you're doing will cause a nice sizzling smell.

The PSU can be removed - on my old compaq (P166) there are 4 retaining screws on the back, unscrew them and the PSU will come out. Make sure you remove all leads from drives, motherboard and any case fans.

The probability is that the PSU is a small wattage, and won't be enough to power modern day systems - check before you use it again.
