Holla to You guys.I hav a big problem than you can imagine.I am running win2k networked on a LAN.I also run novell client 4.71.We have Trend Office as my virus scan program.I tried to run the scan and it only gave me the name of the virus(NIMDA) and gives me a CLEAN FAILED message. How it entered my system I do not know.I think it attacked yesterday because I use Novell as my file server and now I cant even access it.

check www.symantec.com and their virus database for the small fix.

    DID get them

I got one from symantec and the other one from F-Prot.I got them two months ago and they did not work or maybe it is the old version.

Both Norton and McAfee have stand-alone removal tools for Nimda on their websites.

Problem with nimda is that once the files are infected, I do not think u can clean them. You can run tools to make sure that the virus is out of the system and registry.

    Check you IE version.

You will also want to check your IE version and make sure that you have IE 5.01 SP2 with the Q295106 security update, or Version 5.5

This prevents one of the methods of attack.

We had machines that had been affected and tried cleaning up all the *.eml files. But in the end we ended up reimaging the machines, due to fact that we run on images.
