    Socket 423 & 478

    I am looking for an explanation of the difference between socket 423 and socket 478. Pros and cons, etc.

    Pros, you get lots of chioce when trying to decide what type of motherboard and pentuim 4 to buy.

    Cons, the socket won't be any use when you try to upgrade, unless you go from a 2GHz chip to the 2.6GHz (I am guessing here) chip which was the fastest intel produced before changing the socket again. ALso, either way, you would end up with a pentuim 4 chip in there.

    Should I go for socket 423 or socket 478 for my forthcoming P4 CPU ?
