    Which is best? 4 X 128MB *OR* 1 X 512MB/2 X 256MB

Im building a new system and was wondering since i can get 128mb ddr pc2100 for $14 and I have 4 ddr ram slots on my mobo if there was a difference between getting 512mb by using 4 128mb(cheap) or by using 2 256mb(costs more than 2X as much as 128mb) or 1 512mb(costs a **** load).

I wouldn't occupy all 4 available memory slots, you cut your upgrade options this way, and also some mobos have hard times working with all memory slots full (from all known chipset makers - Intel/VIA/SiS/ALi).
    I'd go with 2x256 configuration.

    Best Regards ...

Your CPU uses one cycle time to change between memory slots. So, if you use your system, it's performance might decrease slightly. So, as far as the 512Mb DDR's cost much now, and 4x128Mb have too much slots loaded, I'll recommend 2x256Mb RAM. BTW if you have RAM with different sizes the best choice is to move the bigger RAM to your first slot (cuz there's less chance, that it will be loaded fully, and your PC will switch to the second bank).

    Thanks guys

    I've decided to go with 1 X 256 and 1 X 128 since its only $50. I'll remeber to put the 256 in the 1st slot
