Benchmarks: Windows XP Faster on Graphics

Who needs it anyway? Mine is running just fine! I'll keep my $100.00 and buy me a 18 inch LCD monitor instead.

I am not surprised that a clean install is faster than an upgrade - it has always been the case that upgrading any Windows OS in situ will leave you with the worst of both worlds. Sometimes you will have mysterious Blue Screen crashes where others with identical specifications have no problems at all.

Myths myths myths. Windows 2000 is faster then NT4. Windows XP even with its visual enhancments is just as fast as win2000. Windows 2000 and XP is much much much much as in grand canyon scale much much huge whole bunch super groovy faster then Linux running the so called desktop gnome or KDE.

I can guarantee you that NT4 is 10% faster than win200 on a lot of mathematical analysis software... identical clean installs on identical hardware (P3-800's, 512meg RAM).

I believe it - I just got a new system with XP home installed. It's like lightening, games run better, faster and more stable than any other OS I have ever had before.
    Alienware Aurora DDR
    1.4 Athlon
    Asus mobo 761 chipset
    384 ddr ram
    nvidia geforce3
    sb live 5.1 x-gamer
    plexwriter 16x/10/40
    pioneer dvd 16x

After downloading the XP detonantor drivers Open Gl games even fly -- incredible textures, speed, details. I'm doing the happy "Alien dance" here .

Upgrading to a new OS on an old PC is never a perfect experience. You gotta keep the reviews in perspective because of that fact.
