Only 750MHz
I have been trying to get my 1G athlon to run at 1G, but whatever I do I can only get it to go at 750M.
I have set the bois to both normal (7.5 x 10, 100 FSB), and user define (same settings), but it always comes up at 750MHz.
Abit KT7A
256 M pc133
Is it possible that the Arctic Silver is shorting some contacts, though I did clean it well after changing HS's.
Any ideas?

If this CPU is 266 MHz. you should set the bus speed to 133.
Set the CPU FSB/PCI Clock to 133/33.
the multiplier will still be 7.5

Hey,
I had the same problem with that motherboard. The first thing (obviously) is to check is the BUS speed.
I went through two of those boards with the same problem (finally I sent it back and bought a different board). Perhaps you got one from the same batch... Just out of curiousity, who did you buy the board from?

Set the FSB on the board for 133.
You said that you've tried 7.5 x 10, 100 FSB, this will give you 750.
10 x 100 FSB = 1000 or 1G
7.5 x 133 FSB = 997.5 or 1G
7.5 x 100 FSB = 750
Try as Speedo has suggested.

Sorry guys I made a typo., I should have said, it always boots to 750MHz wether the bios is set to user @100MHz x 10 or set to the default bios 1G ,again 100 x 10.
I just tried it at 100 x 8 and it still goes to 750MHz, and if I set the multiplier to below 7.5 then it wont boot at all !!!!
Its getting stupid, or I am.

Athlons are multiplier locked. It doesn't matter what you set it to, it'll be 7.5. You have to change the bus speed to change speeds.
