    garbled directories

I ran an installation of a Triones Bus Master Atapi driver which didn't work. Now there is a directory called BMIDE with half a dozen subdirectories with garbled names - symbols and non-keyboard characters. If I try to delete BMIDE I get a message saying the subdirectory name is invalid or too long (they are only 2 or 3 characters). If I try to open one of them I get "The specified path is invalid". How can I remove them? I am using Win98SE.

When I had a similar problem I was able to remove the offending info from a command prompt (dos mode). Go into DOS and delete the directory.

    Post back if this helps.

Like prttybean said use DOS. The fact that you only see 2-3 characters does not mean much. Most of the characters possible by ascii are nor printable in windows.

You could also try renaming the files, then deleting.
Another thought would be running Disk Doctor or Scandisk and having the utilities tidy up things, then delete.
