    ECS K7S5A Bus Speeds

    Hey Guys,
I have seen people posting bus speeds other than 100/133 (200/266) for the ECS K7S5A. I have this board and I have the BIOS dated 20/9/01 (that's 9/20/01 for those who are confused). I have seen nothing in CMOS to indicate anything other than the basic settings 100 or 133. I was expecting, when I updated, to gain this feature but I have not. Any clues?
I even just finished reading a review site which indicated that they were running their board at 112mhz. Any info would be useful.
    Thanks.

    I just installed a K7S5A Last week.
Not sure which BIOS it had
but there was a selection somewhere in the BIOS for 100/100, 100/133 and 133/133
Look around..If i recall correctly, it wasnt where i was expecting it.
Make sure u scroll all the way down on BIOS pages that scroll.

    Thanks for the reply -
I've got those settings, I've seen, however, people saying that they have clocked at speeds other than 100/133 (in both sections).
Looking at CMOS I see that I am being confusing in the way I am writing it. I can see that there are two speed sections possible and that each section can run at either 100 or 133mhz. So, maybe this is better: (100 or 133)/(100 or 133). I have seen other speeds in posts and in reviews (they weren't reviewing this board - they were reviewing a video card and this was part of the test system).

Oh Im sorry...I didnt notice you were talking about other speeds.
I didnt overclock the Athlon in the K7S5A system I built, but from previous experience, enabling spread spectrum sometimes opens up new/different clock settings. I can't check it out for you because the system was delivered yesterday, but give it a shot.

    Hi,

You need overclockers BIOS, not official.

You can find it here: http://forum.ocworkbench.com/ocwbcgi...?ubb=forum&f=4

Unfortunately you can not choose such settings as 100/112 (I really would like to try these) but 112/112, 138/138 etc.
I could not overclock my system (CPU could not handle 112) but with this BIOS (010911) even with standard settings 100/100 (I have Duron 800) memory in my system worked faster than with settings 100/133 in official BIOS (010920)... misterious...

    I hope it helps.

Right now I'm using the 0814 version of the overclockers bios which has only options like 150/150 and 166/166, but the 0808 version has other options like 133/150 and 133/166 if I remember correctly. If you can't find it drop me an email and I'll send it to you.

    OCable BIOS

    Sam,
I was going to email you and ask for the 0808 BIOS but you didn't leave your email address.

There have been 5 BIOS releases since this board was launched. It seems they're in a bit of a mess at ECS!

    Hey Sam,
It would be good to get hold of that 0808 Bios. I can't seem to find your email address tho' ... ?
BTW - what does the coding represent? Is the 0814 bios newer or older than the 0808? I'm guessing it represents the date ... ?
