    A simple question to anyone who knows about networking!

    Hi

    Could someone take the time to detail step by step how to connect my pc to my lap-top PLEASE?

    I have win2000 on lap-top and winme on desktop. I just can't seem to get them to recognise eachother. I have enabled sharing on both, connected via ethernet. All that happens is it recognises itself and not other system.

    Any tips for this newby networker?

    If you are running machine to machine, you need to use a crossover cable, not straight through ethernet(cat5) cable.
