Cut and paste between linux apps?

Hi all, just a quick question

Anyone know how I can cut and paste from a StarOffice 6 beta document into an E-mail message in kmail. (I am using KDE on Mandrake 8.1)

The text vanishes when I cut it from the document but nothing happens when i try and paste it into the E-mail, using either crtl-v or selecting paste from the edit menu.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

On a plus note Mozilla now runs rock solid, I just had to turn off java.

    TIA

    Eddy

You can't do that; its a known bug that Sun is working on.

Cut and Paste between apps in Linux is a weak area - the best I have ever seen is with (yuck) Corel Linux ...this is one area in which Windows does have an advantage.

I have found that Star Office 5.x will allow to paste a document into say... this Sysopt reply box, but Star Office 6 beta will not because Mozilla no longer appears to be integrated into the suite. But neither app would allow paste directly into kmail.

Cut & paste in Linux a weak point???

what about marking/middle clicking? Unix uses that for ages!

    Given enough time & money,
    Microsoft will re-invent Unix.

    DNS problems.
Try 65.100.204.165 (one more copy/paste with the middle button for you)

    I stand corrected!

...maybe I should have said copy and paste in Linux/KDE/Star Office apps doesn't work like Windows (e.g. mark/right click/copy/paste).

sheese~ ya gotta be more careful about what you say here in the forum than President Bush addressing Muslims.

what about marking/middle clicking? Unix uses that for ages![/middle-clicked] ....but it works any way you slice it in NS/Mozilla

Mark/middle-click would not work for me to copy text from Star Office 6.0 into Mozilla or vice-versa

    Granted!

I was only trying to make sure everybody is aware of this "trick" rather than offer a solution to the specific problem. Should have been more ....descriptive.
