    Installing Win 2K...newbie???

I want to install WIn 2K on a freshly formated disc. Will Win 2K install the drivers for my hardware???DVD rom, CD burner, floppy etc.???Or will I have to install those on my own?

What is the easiest way to install it? I heard there are several ways...With the 2k cd, or with foppy discs etc.

    Thanks

When I installed Win 2k it didn't recognize my CD-ROM or my CD-RW drive. I had to hunt down and install the drivers myself and it still didn't work. To this day I'm not sure what was wrong. Good luck with your endeavor, though.

If your computer bios has a boot from cdrom feature it is much easier to boot from the cd. Go to your bios and select the boot sequence to boot from cd first. Pop in the w2k cd and answer the simple questions.
Will w2k detect your hardware and install driver? Your floppy it will, DVD and CD burner more then likely it will however your dvd won't play dvd movies without a dvd software. Hard to say if it will detect the rest without knowing what you have. w2k is pretty good at setting things up. You may need a few drivers. What I would do is figure out what hardware you have and search the internet for w2k drivers. Download them and put them on a floppy. That way you will have them when w2k is installed. For instance if w2k doesn't have a driver for your modem and manufature disk doesn't have a driver how are you going to download one. Best go to manufatures web sites first and put the driver on floppy disk.

No. What was really strange is I installed it from the CD and everything was fine. Then, about 3/4 of the way through, I got that "file not found, please insert the Windows CD" error message. So, I click on the drive combo-box and it only gave me an a: drive and the c: drive.
