    FreeCom CD-RW

Is FreeCom a good reliable make of CD-RW? I have been looking at the 16x 10x 40x internal IDE.

    Thanx RobUK

Hmm, I've never heard of this brand of cdrws before. Maybe some other Sysoptrs can help or try looking on the internet for reliable reviews. Sorry I couldn't help.

I've never heard of them either. It is probably made by another company such as Phillips, Sony, Mitsumi, etc. I would find out the manufacturer prior to purchasing. I bought a Memorex cd-rw several years ago and it turned out to be made by Wearnes. It was a junker.

PC hardware is like anything else in life. You generally get what you pay for. I would stick with a name brand drive. You can get nice ones below 150.00 and much lower sometimes.

I have heard of FreeCom - they seem ok. I have one of their CD-rws and it is very reliable, I haven't had any problems so far. I kind of agree with 'you get what you pay for' but, it doesn't always work like that
