    logon

i'm not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes,

i want to disable the logon box that asks for a username and password upon windows startup. it didnt ask for this until i reformatted and re-installed everything recently. i have win 98 first edition and i have no password (i just hit enter when box pops up) which i thought would have disabled it, but to no avail it still annoys me with its persistant presence every day upon login.

any help would be greatly appreciated,
    klockwood

go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Network

for your Primary Network Logon choose Microsoft Family Logon, not client for Microsoft Networks

    Hope that helps...

This happened to me a while back. If Lost-and-Found's suggestion doesn't work then go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Passwords. Click on the User Profiles tab and make sure 'All users of this computer us the same preferences and desktop settings' is selected.
This will all be over before you can say Cat in a Hat.

well for me easiest way is to go into the windows folder and delete all the pwl files

    (maybe its in system32)

but that will also get rid of that blasted logon box!
