I believe it will play VeitCong okay, seems to me you just need a 64Meg accellerator, but all those game lie, they need more to run properly. the 2001 3D Mark is a reasonable indicator of performance potential.

VC runs fine and dandy with a 64mb card at 1024x768x3d bpp in all but the big final level in which the base gets totally overrun

My big question with the FX5200 is how will the 64-bit model perform? From what I've seen the 128-bit model performs about like a Ti200 or so, but I don't expect the 64-bit version to perform anywhere near as well.

I got pie!!!
I must admit that Nvidia is making me extremely wary of anything with an X in it.

Thank you sir, if I could only get some decent ram I'm sure with the rest of the v-mods on the 9700 I could get close to 23000. I am suppose to be getting some twinmos in about 2 weeks that has been doing 250+ FSB, so hopefully I will get lucky.

I'm trying like hell. That FSB was suppose to be 450 or 2 x 225. Little misprint there. I wish they had some ram that would do 500 or 2 x 250. Maybe soon at the rate the ram has been improving.

Just after I read your post Bigjakk
P4 2.4Ghz (clocked@2.53)
Asus P4b533-V
GF4 Ti4200 (288,588)
1024Mb 2700 RAM (same score with 512Mb)
I can get higher up to 12600-12700 running at 2.6GHz.
BigJakk...I just wanted to compare ur system to mine as I was debating buying the AMD 2400 when I bought the above system.
There aint really to much difference. Allthough you have clocked up from standard more than me. I'm still debating the AMD..Intel thing. I seem to get good scores with my system though.

If you buy a cheaper Tbred XP 2000+ and clock it up, you can still get to 2GHz on air and hit the 12000 mark with a GF4 Ti4200... and sdram...
Jakk - got a compare link there???

No link, i dont bother with em. i'm a bit dissapointed with the overclock of the chip actually, i appear to have been 'unlucky' in getting one of the few 8rda+'s that wont do the 200Mhz FSB mark, im stuck at 177 ATM, but intend to maybe sort out some better cooling and do a VDD Mod later in the machines lifetime to see if i can get up to 200FSB. For now though all seems well enough, runs everythng except for some of the 'FPS Killer' ut2k3 maps

I squeaked a little more out of it with the 3.3 drivers. I used some Corsair 3200 ram this time also, so I might try to add a litle voltage to the ram and see what it will do. Maybe I can get the FSB up a little more.
