just tell me that you have not been refering to "Clocking is good???" and using on your kid?? some may call it child abuse (although you wouldnt need to shave him would ya... )
No, not yet. Just give me a little time.

NOHTO - your score is almost double mine now.. with a CPU thats almost double the clock speed... what FSB you running on that beast?? effective over 1GHz????

Thats like 1068MHz FSB (if you say it like the AMD's 333 or Intels 800MHz busses) thats a nice bit o' bandwidth you have there.....
i have been pricing me a new rig.. .costs well in excess of $3000 AU for it.. and that doesnt include cooling!!!!! just getting that sorta system from scratch... then i need the prommy or vapo.. preferably both.. prommy for CPU and vapo for GPU a la OPP...

bit expensive though... and i have other things i need first.... cant spend money on a machine just to be able to compete with you guys

That's whats killing me is the GPU cooler. I modified the gasket today and I am installing the MSI board in hopes of getting to the 24,000 mark

if you're gonna run pelt setup for the gpu, you may need 2 172watts (or i have seen some nice 300+ watt ones around) and use sub-zero "water" to cool them.... i once toyed with the idea of using a 300watter and a vapochill to get down to temp.. coz if you have a 70°C delta temp on the pelt, and you get the "hot" side down to say -15°C then cold side will be around the -80°C....
i wonder if it has been done yet??? wanna try it???

I am running a MCW50-T with a 172w pelt and coolant temps at approximately -10 C. I would think that would be enough, but obviously it might not be. I am game, but the only problem with running bigger pelts/waterblocks is that they ar a pain in the *** to mount and seal. What did you have in mind?

well... the 300watt ones i have seen are the same dimensions as an 80watt one... so the size isnt a problem... the only problem i have seen with 2 pelts say of 172watt flavour (one on top of the other) is that you need to use thermal adhesive to attach them together.. right? well.. that impedes heat transfer ability... so... if you could somehow use a 300watter... but then you need to get your coolant temps lower in order to deal with the higher temp pelt... we all know that coolant of -10°C will not make the hot side -10°... probably only around the 2-5°C range actually... (i know that straight water on an 80watt gets the cold side down to -5°C on a GF4 Ti4600.. this was measured on the back of the PCB with no load on the pelt. with load the PCB went up to 15°C) what i see is needed is phase change cooling on top of a pelt.. that sorta cooling gets a cpu down to -15°C or more, so a peltier would pose no problem for it... so phase change cool your high wattage pelt.. say with a 2nd hand (or old model) vapo, or a custom built system that would chill the pelt down enough. you normally have to wait for your prommy to cool down before switching on.. all you need is to get the gpu cooling rig to switch on with the prommy's power on.

The next problem is condensation.... i am sure you can manage in that department..
mounting??? thats the Big ITCH.. now.. we all know that vapo's have the mutha of all mounting mechanisms... what i have seen done is a modified ZIF socket is attached to a 3D card so that a heatsink that clips on can be mounted... all you need is the socket off an old Socket A board that is dead, cut out the required plastic, mount the the clip on the required packing to get the top of the GPU at the right level.. then clip on the heatsink.. or in this case the vapo head... you would probably need to bolt the socket into place using existing HSF mounting holes, but hey... only requires a lil drilling of the socket.
it would take a bit of work, but hey think that it may get your scores up a bit if heat is holding you back.. which it may be doing.... do you have an idea of the temp of your gpu? (the fact that supercooling also increases conductivity of metals would increase the stability, even if you cant get the clock higher)

PS - i know this isnt about 3dmark2001, but hey.. its helping get another user's box a higher score......

Yeah the backside of the card is about 55 F right now and it has been running for about 1hour.
