In my case, I can't stand Win9x! If the game won't run on Windows 2000, I simply want purchase it.

Windows 2000 is so much better in all ways except the incompatibility it has with certain software. As for hardware, most of them have Win2k drivers that you can download.
You'll notice that there are quite a few games that won't run without tweaking it. Some just won't run on Win2k period! However, I'd say to go with Win98SE if your primary use for the computer's gaming.

You might want to check here to make sure the games your running now will run on Win2k. And also make sure Windows 2000 drivers are available for the hardware you're currently using before you switch to Windows 2000.

Go with a game boy?!?!?!??!?!?!?! Surely you could atleast choose something alittle better than that. Dreamcast? PS2? I've got both and love both. But then i spend most of my time on my good ol' PC.

Stick with WIN98SE, WINME has some fatal flaws in it, WN2000 was ment for big networks in companys

I own and have tried all the Windows OS except NT.

For gaming 98SE is by far the fastest and best.

The statement by a previous post saying ME is most stable, but has a lot of problems ???
This I don't understand, if it has a lot of problems it is not the most stable.

Win ME gets my vote ...... only prob I have , and others too , is the memory leak ... I wonder if M/S will "patch" that or just forget ME and focus on the Home Edition of XP .....

The only game I play is CounterStrike. Windows 2000 is far better with it than any Win9x. Memory leakage, performance and stability. Cant wait for XP professional.

I vote for Win98SE. It's the only OS I use and works perfectly fast and stable for me (and it's cheaper than WinMe). Personally, I wouldn't touch WinMe with a barge pole And Win2K has too many incompatabilities for me.

Win98 SE, Don't forget your VidCard!
Some can be testy, I've had absolute success with my soon to be obsolete Voodoo 5500!
Yes I'll get an Nvidia eventually
