slow frame rates in Unreal

While playing Unreal 1024/768 32bit, I am only getting an average of 30-35 FPS? Radeon 64m DDR VIVO flashed to Radeon SE 198/198.

1.2 T-Bird @ 1.32 110x12
256mb PC133 cas2
WD 20gb 7200 ata100
Why such slow frame rates? 3D mark 2001 I get a decent score of 3470?

Should be more than double that....usually a 64mb DDR Radeon is about 80-85 fps.
Well for started do you definitely have the latest Version, do you have the S3TC and other things off the second CD. Latest drivers for Vid-card etc?

The CD is just plain "Unreal". I downloaded the patch which was huge. Installed it. S3TC? Don't know what that is. Drivers for the card are 75's. I have tried newer drivers but there not to stable so went back to the 75's. Have the latest VIA drivers installed. DX8. etc. Not sure what the deal is. Game renderer is set to "Direct draw". Open GL locks the game up.

That's just plain wierd!!
Have you check your AGP settings?
4x, fast writes = enabled, vsync = off and all of that.!

Have you tried any other games?
It only happens with Unreal?
Try some tweak programs ... http://www.tweakfiles.com look under video.!

Sorry for the Bad URL Address!
Try http://www.tweakfiles.com and check under video as I know there are some Ati card utilities.! You can enable Fast Writes from the BIOS or Windows.!

The unreal436 patch was huge? I got that on my DUN in about 5min....Maybe you got something else. S3TC is just extra eyecandy for fast machines on the second UT cd.

u play in direct 3d or in onpengl with cd2 texture and the patch ?

ho and to get the nice framrate device in UT
go in the console or press ur tab button and write: timedemo 1

Are you running this in Windows 2000? That could be it.

it will only play direct3D. OpenGL give me an error message. Win.98se. Frame rates suck, unless I turn off most everything and run it in 16bit.

I downloaded the latest patch for unreal from 3DFiles.
Man, I need the GF3 or something is putting a hurting on my system.

He hasn't got Unreal Tournament.
He's got the original UNREAL......
