So, What is Madonna's new song about?
This one ran for year's after the first release, so what do we think Americain Pie is all about?
THE plane crash?

the night that Buddy Holly, Richie Valenzuela and the Big Bopper were killed in a plane crash is widely known to be "the day, the muuuuuusic... died" although im unsure if it was the original song by Don Mclean, that coined the phrase. The saying could have come before he wrote the song.

I thought is was about taking a great song and ruining it.

The original American Pie was about mourning not just for the the loss of Buddy Holly, etc. but how that symbolized the perceived loss of innocence that came with the end of the fifties and start of the sixties(remember the reference to Jack Flash?).
The new American Pie is Madonna's tongue in cheek turn on this song, taking perceived values and turning them upside down again (exemplied just for example by the gays kissing in the video, there are other examples).
Say what you want about Madonna (or whoever markets her) she's always done what she's wanted and said what she's wanted to say and she earns my respect on that count.

American Pie was the name of the plane that they died on.

i agree with u-96, it's about not wearing a bra

I hate Madonna's version...all that dance beat and her *attempt* at singing.....the original was awsome
