More info. Does it restart into Windows OK? How are you trying to get to DOS -- during startup, or from Windows with Start/ Run/ Restart in DOS mode? What exactly happens when you try?

yep, that'll work for gmcpher196.
but not for you TechJumper. If you're running Win2k, then you have no DOS. You can run a DOS window AFTER you boot into Windoze, but there is no DOS before Windoze boots.
A start-up disk is your only option. (unless I'm mistakin')

When I'm in windows and try to restart in MS-DOS mode the computer goes into windows. I'm running 98

gmcpher, just go into C:\windows & delete any files called:
Exit To DOS
Dosprompt
Exitto~1
Now try it.

During boot up, hit f8 just as windows starts to load. It will give you a menu of choices like "safe mode" and "Safe Mode with Networkorking" etc. Select "comand prompt only". For most purposes, this is the same as dos mode.
