    Can I still upgrade to Windows 10 for free?

    My sister moved to a new nursing home and she wanted me to get her laptop running again. It's an old laptop still running Windows 8.1. Can I still upgrade this to Windows 10 for free? If so, do I need the product key? I intend to add some memory and an SSD, but would like to upgrade her first.
