    WIN7 32 and Win 10 on 4gb-system

Want to upgrade my dualcore-system with 4gb Ram with win7 32bit(have dvd) and SSD 240 kingston SSDNow v300.
Is it a good idea to make dualboot for later win10-installation. will that work or will free update only work with a single installation.
do not want to upgrade to 8gb ram. would rise the costs even more.
so lets discuss this option a bit later. i mean win7-64.

64 bit takes advantage of multi thread programs and speeds things up.

Now there are a couple updates, if they have been installed, you will get Win 10 as a update and end up with windows.old folder most likely

Maybe better waiting until i have 8gb ram then install win7-64 as dualboot and install win10 later. Now how is free upgrade working in that case, not working if win7 is not replaced?

Win 10, lot of unanswered questions about it. I just do not know about getting it where we can do a clean install.

So if i want to have it free i must replace an existing win7-installation, right? No dualboot, right?

    Correct.

I want to dual boot instead of replace my current version of Windows.

If you need to install Windows 10 on a separate hard disk or partition, you will need to purchase a full license.

    Retail pricing information:

    Windows 10 Home US $119
    Windows 10 Pro US $199
Windows 10 Pro Pack US $99

When win 10 update is ready on July 29 back up win 7 then add a 2nd partition to your hard drive or a 2nd hard drive & restore win 7 to it & update to win 10 then you will have a dual boot to both win7 & win10 also it won't cost you a key code if you restore instead of installing win7 on new partition or hard drive.

Like always, having to upgrade M$ is a bit scary... Thanks SpywareDr. I will have to read on a bit more before I "commit". I have Win 7 x64 but I don't have any 2nd partition/HDD to back anything up right now, but it's reserved and we'll see. *S*

Is there word on Win 10 pricing, yet?
During deep sleep IT came to me and the future of processing is clear.
Future processors will primarily be digital tuning radios acting as grid computing nodes.
    Voila. See ya in hell.

I believe that Windows 7 upgrades will be free from now on, but you will have to pay to install Windows on new PCs. Keep in mind that you would then need the full version, which will likely cost about $200 vs. $100 for the "old" upgrades.

What I would do, euro, is back up the the drive that has Windows to an image the day before you actually upgrade to Win 10. I'm assuming that Windows is on the SSD? Do the upgrade and test it out for awhile. If you like it, keep it. If not, restore the backup.

I would wait on the upgrade anyway. Read about the experience of others before upgrading
