    Fibre Cable not that speedy

    Can compare 4k wireless(mobile) internet-router with fibre cable 30k-line.
    http://www.upc-cablecom.ch/de/intern...et/speedtest/#
    is showing 29 Mbit/s
another one shows 24Mbps or 24000kbps
surfing websites like newspaper-portals or others is not that speedier.
Which tool can measure surfspeed of websites?

Not all web sites are created equal. Some are poorly written - are stored on old servers - - have heavy traffic or all of the above which can cause them to load slowly.

    Only test I use now.
A 386 server on a 33k dialup modem is slower than slow. 3kbps is its speed.
Digital river yesterday, I downloaded at 6.8 Mps

I tried this: not really helpful
    http://www.pagescoring.com/website-speed-test/
Possibly i dont yet understand it.
on one testtool of one of the providers i see DL almost identical to UL.
in others its different. maybe i must use only local-speedtesters. maybe then they can manipulate better....
i see prices coming down. from 109 to 87 chf/month for the powerpack(tv,internet, phone) 30k. free phone and mobile also to certain europeans countries.

Iam getting now 91Mb/S DL and 30Mb/s UL from my providers testserver.
    I have bought only 30k(30Mb/s) not 100.
I really see 100/100 but it must be cut, at least UL as we see.
lately when i checked with speedtest.com it was too high and later showed the right speed around 30Mbps DL.

speedtest.md 17/24Mbps so UL/DL is really set identical from provider. DL only reduced from certain servers.
Is there somewhere a large videofile to download?
Could my dual-core-pc slow down surfspeed?
He seems to be refreshed and clean. 4gb ram/winxp

Even though I have a excellent router, my wireless is always slower than my wired network.

    Wired

Now i will run the wireless and add it.

    This cable.
Not a video but download a Linux distro
    I suggest
    http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php

See if Switch, in your country does better than 1.1 MB/sec for you.
    http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=144

File is 1.2 GB in size.
Might try the Germany sites to.

    I got 6.6 MB/sec yesterday from a U.S. site

4Mb/s from switch/switzerland(here). i will now switch to my other slow provider. 30k versus 4k.......
windows downloader showed 4.24 but it was 5min. not very trustfull, maybe starttime is different.
have now dta manager and downthem all in status bar which show the actual speed.
    SLOW PROVIDER
    500kb/sec about 40min versus 5 min. 8x slower.

    fiber cable
maybe they have augmented my speed-speedier than 30k. maybe not different servers show much different speeds. up to 90(their own server here) versus 30..... maybe a mistake from the providers testtool.

Looking good, 8x faster is nice to see. But the old stopwatch for the full download is what i like to use at times.
I never trust a providers test.

yes i used the stopwatch. it was about 30 secs. longer. 5 min.40' min is a nogo. cannot live with that low speed. 4G is in the pipe. problem is when shared the lines are much slower than offical. hope 5G will change that.

i compared my 3000(4G) versus 30000(Fiber cabler) providers.
its 500kb/sec versus 5mb/s, matches exactly.
provider says they have no limits and DL/UL has the same speed.
In my opinion fiber cable is not needed, copper is enough.

Whats the advatage of fiber versus copper?

4G is the fourth generation of mobile phone mobile communication technology standards So that is wireless. Basically 2 way radio as most phones are.
3000(4G)[500kb/sec] versus 30000(Fiber cable)[5mb/s]. Fibre should be the faster downloading if I put fyour information together right.

I assume you mean MB/s as speeds use lower case 'b' for bits and upper case 'B' for bytes. Since there are (for most purposes) 8 bits per 1 byte,
    fiber versus copper
Copper has come along way and actually is younger that fibre. That surprised me.
And comcast actually uses a , I guess you can consider, a combination of both.Mains are fibre and the final mile , so to speak, is wire.

I read about six of the links here.

yes 5MB/sec.I will inform myself about the copper-situation. i myself have fiber to home and 4G-wireless. i can get around 4600 -3000 official.
Interestingly during both i see the 100/100 Mbit/s signal. do you think my pc is confused.
wireless 4G is not coming in that fast. i am using cable between pc and router.
Interestingly some years ago Wlan was quicker....
Provided is telling he is independent from our main-state-owned one. So in case of crash of them we should not be touched.
Lately it was so slow i had to change to the slower provider to see it running quicker.
sometime when pc is running without activation connection is logged off. One has to unplug replug or reset or TFC or a combination of all of them.
