    AMD Athlon XP 2600 1.9 GHZ Question

    Hi Ya' All,
    Is the AMD Athlon 2600 1.9 GHZ CPU A 64bit processor ?
    Has anyone has used it with a 64 bit O/S ?
    I have it in a 32 bit computer now and would like to upgrade..

    A 10+ year old single core processor with Socket A mobo - me no think 64bit was invented back then...(kidding about the back then part)

    Too bad you don't live closer... I have a few of similar dated computers I'm having trouble giving away.

    wow.......I didn't think I built it that long ago.......but it doesn't have sata so maybe not a good choice .......
    I do have some even older........wow I can retire here soon..........
    Mobo suggestions would be helpful........

    What do you normally do?

    Just a suggestion here:
    Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 which has 2 ps/2 ports
    or the
    Gigabyte GA-970A- D3 Full ATX Motherboard;
    AMD FX 8120 3.1Ghz;
    Corsair Vengeance 8GB Memory;
    And you will need a new power supply.

    Gigabyte=Good

    I also have such an old one but Gigabyte with the same processor. very reliable. working and working all day/night long. only videocards and PSU had to be replaced multiple times. MB crashes were made by me....Got ebay-replacements.

    Thanx Guys,
    On the same subject ,,,I don't have a static IP but Dinamic with my ISP...so connecting to my home server with a domain name I was told would be difficult.....has anyone had experience with these issues ?
    I plan to chat with my ISP but I am afraid they will want me to move to a business account which may cost more.......thanx in advance for any info.....or direction

    ISPs will "Lease" a block of 5 Static IP Addresses - most, for any type of account - Price per month varies. However, what you want to do is a lot more than just hosting with an IP Address that would not change.

    To avoid volumes of questions and answers, Google is your friend. Way too many details for a forum thread or even eMail correspondence.
