    Toshiba C655-S5206 XP VGA Driner

    Hi All.
I got a Toshiba C655-S5602. I installed windows xp in dual boot with Windows 7.
Everything is working fine except the VGA Intel HD 3000. I cant find the suitable one for it.
I installed many drivers, some work but on restart i get a black screen, some doesnt.
Kindly, I need the exact xp 32 bit driver for the Intel GPU.
    Thanks in advance

You usually have to go through the vendor for video drivers. Did you try looking at other vendors like HP or Asus and see if they have XP drivers? I kinda doubt it, but you can try.

If Intel doesn't even have it on their site, then you're kinda stuck. That's why a lot of people are running Virtual machines instead of dual booting nowadays.

You'd be looking for a Mobile Intel Series 6 or HM65 driver. I doubt OEMs would have it if Intel themselves don't, but you can try. I'm not sure which models have that chipset, you might be digging for a while.

I would seriously consider looking into a VM or XP Mode on Win7 instead.

Like I said, if Intel and Toshiba don't have drivers, they probably don't exist. This is the same thing that happened when Vista came out, and XP is that much older now. Most OEMs will only release drivers for the OS the laptop is sold with.

    Hi again.
A friend of me told me that he used this driver and it worked for him :

    http://www.wikidrivers.com/wiki/Inte...ndows_versions

I tried it but when i reboot the system, the screen is soo dimmed, almost black....
I have to reboot in safe mode and remove the driver and reboot again to get it work again but without the vga driver..
    Im stuck here..

PS : I have the same problem as :

I did find a driver page for the Intel HD 3000 drivers in XP:

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...cs+3000%2f2000

Now, I'm not sure how the video drivers need to be installed. If the chipset package needs to be installed, you may be out of luck. Since I can't actually install the drivers, I can't see what works and what doesn't. That's up to you.

What I would like to know is which program or driver requires you to have XP. I use Windows 7 and I have found a way to get everything important to me to work in 7 - I even found drivers for a 8 year old Epson scanner.

    Hi Bill
    Thanks for your reply.
I'll try this driver with and without the chipset drivers.
I need to use XP because the Engine Management System ( ECU ) mapping works only in XP...
I'll keep you posted about the results.

I finally got it to work using the driver Bill provided. But when the laptop boots up, the lcd is totally dimmed. So I only have to press Fn+F6 so that the lcd lights up again.
Its ok, its fine with me like that since Its working.
Many thanks and many regards Midknyte and Bill for your time.
    Cheers
