    Internet interference

I am working on a Toshiba laptop with W7 Home Prem 32 bit and IE9. I connect this laptop to a small peer-to-peer networkwith either CAT5e wire or wirelessly.

This computer had a couple spyware infections that were removed with Malwarbytes (Free) and 1 virus removed with AVG Free.

However, after booting the computer, it connects to the Internet for about 3 minutes, then ceases to connect to any website and additionally, disables the Internet for the entire network. When looking in the Network and Sharing Center, it indicates the laptop is still connected to the Internet.

Any ideas or relatively easy solutions??

Have you gone into device manager, Right click the nics and select properties.

    Power tab.
Take the check out of "Disable this device to save energy" or words to that effect.

Now if that does not correct things, then register with our sister site and follow all the instructions at

They are good at digging out nasties.

If networking goes south after a malware cleanup, it usually indicates a gap in the protocol stack which you can correct with a winsock fix, or just open cmd and run
    netsh winsock reset
and if necessary, reinstall TCP/IP with
    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

Actually tried these things with no success. Ended up with a reload. Works fine now. Thanks for the suggestions.
