    wireless printing from iPhone

A friend wants to be able to print from his iPhine to a wireless printer.

My understanding is that there is an app available but it requires a computer on the wireless network.

He is willing to buy a wireless printer and router but does not have a computer in his shop and does not want one.

    Can he do this?

An iPhone can print directly to an AirPrint enabled wireless printer.
I don't know if a computer is required to set up the printer, but that could be accomplished with a notebook on a one time basis.

he has a PC at home so initial setup is not a problem.

He will then relocate the router and the printer to his shop. There will be no computer in his shop, just the router and wireless printer.

A computer is NOT required to print to an AirPrint enabled printer. This link contains the requirements and a list of AirPrint enabled printers.

You can use a program called Printer Share. It works on several printers that do not have features like AirPrint or ePrint. Most of the time the printer just needs to be network connected. I have tested it with my Toshiba Thrive and iPad 2 on my HP Officejet J6480. It is an option if you do not want to buy a printer that has mobile print support for tablet devices built in.

It is a paid app so if I am not allowed to post this link, let me know.
