Manually Cancel a Windows XP Setup?

Once you start it you can't stop it, but after a bunch of failed installs from a bad disc I get a black screen after the second reboot during install. When you go from blue install screen to windows installer I get a black screen with mouse cursor only. I can do a totally fresh install and have Windows 8 partition, but I really want to salvage this install. Is there any way I just just delete whatever it is that is telling XP to be in install mode? It's gotta be something simple, was wondering if I could just find and delete whatever temporary setup files are on there too so if I can't I could at least get a fresh re-install with a good disc I have.

    Thanks for any help!

If you had a bad CD, then you probably have a bad install (corruption). On your next XP setup, repartition and format first to ensure a clean install.
Any failing hardware can cause a setup failure, so I would check all your hardware out first.
