Inspect Element keeps popping up in Chrome
Hi,
For the past week or so the "inspect element" screen pops up whenever I press any key on the keyboard, in google chrome just after loading. I did a complete re-install of windows yesterday and loaded the latest version of chrome and it is still happening.
I am running Win 7 professional 64bit with Sp1 and chrome version 14.0.835.187
This is most annoying. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Michael

Have you tried a different keyboard?

Hi Ol'Tunzafun,
I have scrapped win 7 64 bit and reinstalled Xp Pro 32 bit. Same problem. Tried your solution and it worked. Thanks. Where did you come up with that idea? It was the same keyboard throughout.
Regards,
Michael

There is a keyboard shortcut to bring up "Inspect Element" (Ctrl+Shift+C, I believe), so if a keyboard fault accidentally makes that connection, you can have that annoying result. It could be any number of annoying results but that's the one that fell to you.
It sounds like the bottom left corner of the keyboard was damaged (a spill maybe?). The other 4 keys in that corner (A,S,Z and X) are not part of any Chrome keyboard shortcut, which helps to make the case. That's even more of a guess, but that's what I suspect, given the current available data.

Good detective work. Many thanks. Keyboard was at fault.
