How to delete fntcache.dat

I am running windows 7, my processor keeps running at 35-45 percent. I have narrowed it down to windows font cache 3.0. I need to delete it and I can not find it. Could someone please help me delete this?

Did you look in C:\Windows\System32\ ? fntcache.dat should be there. Note that the file will get recreated when you reboot.

How did you determine it was the fntcache.dat?

I used process explorer, the only process using the processer was fntcache.dat. I also read a lot of posts where other people were having this issue. My problem is I can not find C:\Windows\System32\ ? fntcache.dat to delete it. I need to find C/WINDOWS

Doesn't Process Explorer show you the path to the file?
Right click on the fntcache.dat and click Properties. Click the Image tab and it should show the file location.

What does that mean? The path that PE shows is C/Windows?

It should be C:\Windows\System32\fntcache.dat. If that's not the path, then it might be some kind of malware. Did you run an antivirus/antispyware scans?

Doesn't C:\Windows\System32 show up in Explorer? Did you install Windows on a drive letter other than C:?

Did you try entering C:\Windows\System32 in the Start-Search box?

First open Windows Explorer and click Tools, Options. Then click the View tab and make sure the 'show hidden files, folders and drives option is selected.

No, Windows Explorer. Right click on the Start button and click Open Windows Explorer. Then go to Computer - Local Disk (C: )

Did you also try the Start-Search box like I mentioned?

C:\Windows\System32 is not a hidden folder, but you can try it anyway.
In Windows 7, the hidden files option would be under Organize - File and search options
Then View - Show hidden files...
You can also uncheck Hide protected operating system files

I did put it in the search box, I found it that way. I then deleted fntcache.dat and also ran Process Explorer with admin rights and deleted it from there. The first time I just deleted it from process explorer. So far the processor is staying at 0-2 percent. After a restart. I hope it stays this way.
Also I never installed windows on this computer, it was already installed.

Did you scan your system for viruses and spyware? If so, tell us what you used.

Avira, Malware bytes and ASquared, They all said it is clean? When I deleted fntcache.dat it did solve problem until the second restart.
