Use profile does not show incons

I am working on a virus infected HP Pavilion Dv4 laptop. I believe I have gotten rid of viruses/spyware using AVG/Malwarebytes. However, nothing shows under the profile C:Users/User. The screen says "This folder is empty". When displaying properties, there is about 3.6 GB of Data. I have pulled the drive and copied the User folder to temporary storage.

Can I get this icons to display under "User" without a reload??

Did you try making another profile folder and copying the files over?

No. I just want the current profile to show contents. Is that possible?

Folder Options->Tools->Show hidden files might help.

Steve- That actually worked which surprised me a bit. What would cause this and what does it take, besides reload, to get this to run normally? Is it operationally O.K. to run with "Show hidden files"? The favorites bar is still empty.

I normally would not have to check the "show hidden files" to display folders like Documents, Contacts, Desktop, Downloads, Etc. Generally I check "Show hidden files" when I want to display AppData and things like that.

In addition, I just notice that when I click on "All Programs" after clicking on Start, nothing displays. I am starting to think reload. I don't care for things running incorrectly

I hate to keep adding to the issues but as I continue, I notice more things. I have copied the "User" folder to a different computer by pulling the hard drive and copying files. I just notice that although I can open and see the folder/files on this different computer, the icons are subdued, almost transparent. It is as if an attribute is set to hide them.

Problem solved. System restored to factory image. Still don't know why copied files show transparent icons.
