    Redirect in browsers

    Dear All
When using Firefox or Internet Explorer, I get constant "redirects" when I click on a link...redirects go to seemingly random web sites with look up pages or advertising pages/ One IT guy told me it is a worm.
I have tried Vipre, SuperAntiSpyware. and malwarebytes programs to try and remedy this but to no avail.
    Any Thoughts????

    Thanks

    -Michael

The best advise for you is to follow the link and it's instructions, a malware specialist will help you there. (a Sysopt sister site)

It's possible that the malware has been eliminated, but the damage to the hosts file or winsock catalog remains. Either of these can produce redirects. To fix the winsock catalog, go to the command prompt and enter netsh winsock reset. You can check the hosts file yourself or you can install the MVPs hosts file.
