    Yay new monitor :)

    Old:
NEC Multitouch Superbright 19" CRT FE991SB-BK. I've had it since 2003. During the last month it's developed a lovely feature in which the monitor goes black except for a .5" wide whitish squggly line going from the left side to the right side. I think it's longhair-siamese-cat-related (my 14 LB boy cat liked to sleep on that nice warm area....).

    New:

I ordered it on 03/27 when it was $149.99 + free shipping. Got it yesterday. Wow, what a difference. It's huge -- great for using the Source SDK.

And the power consumption -- the old CRT used ~92W. This one is supposed to use 28.2W. I figure it will pay for itself over the next few years in energy savings alone.

They are finally coming down in price. About time. When i needed a new one i ws in a tight bind and could not wait, so i went to a localized retailer ( Fred Meyer here ) and spent $199.00 for a 22". if one does not have at least that the size will at first glance amaze you.
I am near sighted and with glasses it was like HUGE to me. Won't be long before you will want bigger as we all do. 23"-24" is just about right.... congrats also... Have fun RR

Just stay away from the CTL 23 inch Rabbit, it has a TFT - Amorphous Active Matrix screen.

I like this monitor but because of that one time circumstance, I would opt for another brand, if nothing more then to try something different. This one would have to die first before tht happens. LOL
