    remove dual boot entries?

    I have an old ME/XP machine which I want to continue using for fun (don't ask!)
    but just in ME mode. what can I do with my boot.ini file to remove the xp entry and make ME the default OS? at the moment it looks like:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=5
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\window s
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="XP Pro" /fastdetect /NoExecuteOpIn
    C:\="ME"

    the line starting with Pro should be on the same line as the previous but I couldn't get it all in.

    To change the default operating system, boot into XP, open the Control Panel and double click "System", select the "Advanced" tab. In the Startup and Recovery section, click "Settings." Under "System Startup", set your default OS and Windows will rewrite boot.ini for you.

    thanks for that, but I should have said that I have cleaned out the xp partition, deleted everything, so I only have ME, and I don't know if it has any options like the ones in xp so I am assuming I have to do it manually.

    oh dear, I must be tired. I have not typed in the boot.ini accurately in my first post, this is what it actually looks like:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=5
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="XP Pro" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
    C:\="ME"

    The short and easy fix...Do the steps Ol'Tunzafun pointed out...There is an option to: "Set the Time to Display List" and set it to 1 second.

    EDIT: Make sure ME is the default OS.

    Easy fix when you have only one remaining OS.
    MSCONFIG
    Boot Tab
    Should be a check boot paths or something like that I cannot remember
    It will scan both entries and will offer to delete the invalid boot path
    Delete and when you reboot the machine will boot into the OS that remains on the PC
    If you learn to walk with a crutch, you will always have a limp

    If XP has been removed, that changes everything. Are you still able to boot into Me?
    Do you have a WinMe startup disk?
