Win 7 Random Freezing - possible solution.

Here's an article I read that might just assist someone out there in the future. It refers to Win 7 randomly freezing and recovering in 30 to 45 seconds or so without leaving any error records.

    Hope it helps!

    Thumbs up Win7 random freezes

My system had the issue that is described in the linked article so tried the HOTFIX and to my surprise it worked wonders on my PC. Hope that MS don't release another "FIX" that breaks this one.

Thanks Michael, I have at least one machine that is a candidate for this hotfix.

It's better to post the cure before the disease

Unhappy workd for a short while

I loaded the patch and my PC did seem to be running better and didn't have those pauses. But, alas it wasn't to stay that way. Those random halts have started up again so will just bear with it

    late posting

The random freezing that was described in the initial post was finally cleared up on my PC by a later MS update.

Now it looks like that last round of updates has caused a bigger issue by locking the PC up until you hit the power button or the reset button.

Does anyone know if the fix listed can be cleared from the system and reapplied to correct the lock up issues?

    Finally figured it out.

The AV software was fighting its self causing the lock up issues with the PC.

This was the result of where I work having software that would not accept AVG2011 (till recently) and not getting it completely off the PC before reloading AVG v9 (which their software would work with).

Once they upgraded their software and I performed the upgrade on my PC of the AVG software everything straightened out - no more lock ups.
