Unhappy Unable to run VLC Media Player

I cannot run VLC Media Player from my windows xp machine unless I install it from scratch. It will play one movie, and after I eject the disc and start it with a new video, the screen is blank and won't do nothing unless I start the uninstall & reinstall ritual again. Any ideas on this, as I suspect a software conflict. It will play in windows media 11 with picture but no sound.

Instead of a uninstall & reinstall - does rebooting the machine help?

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm, this may help get both sound and video on win media player.

dont know whats up with vlc, can see it being irratating though. ive never had any problem with it.

What video card do you have? Did you update the drivers?

What other apps are you running? Something may be conflicting with VLC.

wardD- thanks for the tip. I got the sound in windows media, but VLC still don't work. FYI, I have a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS video card installed on this machine, if that helps. I will check if there are any driver updates for the card next.

Problem solved!!- I got a driver update from NVIDIA for the GeForce 7600 GS graphics card. Both Windows Media 11 & VLC work fine.
