    Browser jumping to new page...

I have a system that will not go to the page selected.

Example... I click on Windows Update from under the safety tab. I get a "No Connection" page. I type in winodws update in google search... go to the Windows update link click on it and the same thing.. "No Connection" page.

    I have run Hijackthis... Good
    Spyware Doc ... clean
    Malwarebytes ..... clean
    SAS (superAntiSpyware) ...... clean

I don't know what else to do... deleted cookies, temp files, history files.

    Need some advice here.

What started it all was "ave.exe" virus. NASTY NASTY little bugger.

What does this mean--> Browser jumping to new page...

Can you get to other sites besides Windows Updates?
Are you using Internet Explorer to get WIn Updates?

    http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

It's up today, so that's not the problem.

Did you check your HOSTS file to make sure there aren't any redirects?

It would help if you said what OS and browser you are using.

OS is XP Home and browser is Google.

It's getting worse... the more viruses and trojans I find the more they keep popping up... and I'm not even connected to the net.

WIPE and fresh install I feel is the best way now.

    XP SP what?

Google = Chrome browser? Don't run Windows Update from Chrome. Use IE.

Which antivirus did you use? I see you've used several antispyware apps, but that's not the same as AV.

    SP3

When trying to up I use IE8. They use IGoogle for their default browser.

Was running Symantec but I removed it and installed AVG to see what I could find using it. Symantec reported nothing, is why I switched.

iGoogle is a customized search page, not a browser.

Oh well. If you're gonna reformat, it doesn't really matter.

yeah... I have started the process. Just too much time involved in picking this virus out. Lot simpler to start fresh.

    Thanks for the help guys...
