    Sysopt problem with Opera

    To the site admins,

Ever since Opera was updated from V9.x to V10.x, I am unable to login into the
Sysopt forums using the Opera Browser. I have tried changing every possible
setting in Opera, clearing all Cookies and anything else I can think of (including
clearing all Temp files on the computer) .. this happens on all my computers
that have Opera 10.x on them, so it is not a computer issue. Your site simply
refuses to acknowledge my legit site login when using Opera 10.x
It works fine with IE8 or Firefox 3.6 .. please see what can be done.

    Thanks

1): The Login screen comes up as normal, but refuses to accept my login credentials.

2): I cleared all cookies and have all browsers set to clear cookies and history on exit

3): I have all security protocols enabled

4): This problem has been happening on all my computers with XP Home or XP Pro with
SP3 since Opera went to Version 10.x

I searched the word: Opera here in the feedback forum and found your other thread on this same subject:
    http://www.sysopt.com/forum/showthre...ighlight=opera

Go here first and try to login:
    http://www.sysopt.com/
(both the username and password are case sensitive here)

So problem solved - you're now logged in via Opera?

Only if I login thru the main page and not from the login box
on the Forums Index page. Which works fine on all my other
web browsers (IE8 & Firefox) and it used to work properly
in Opera 9 ... so either Opera has a problem they won't admit to
or the Sysopt Forum Login page needs just a little recoding to
    work with Opera 10.x

Easy way to tell is for you to try Opera 10.x yourself and see if
the same issue occurs. Then someone can figure out what to change.

Short version of the story - SysOpt is different then all of its sister sites regarding logging in. If you "have to" log in from the Home page then...there ya go.

That is a work around, not a fix. And since it used to work with Opera 9
it should still work ok with Opera 10

Or 10 has some changes that needs reporting. Back to the opera writers.

Possible. But I did report it to Opera when V10.x first came out.
Naturally, they did not check or do anything about it except to
point the finger at you guys, since it is only this one site with an issue.
That is known of. Perhaps you can check the coding for the 2 login
pages. Compare what is used on the Main Page, with what is used
for the Forum Login page ... links above ... odds are, they are just
    a tiny bit different.

happens on a few other Quinn St owned forums also. http://forums.practicallynetworked.com / http://forums.serverwatch.com

i find if i spoof the user-agent string to FF or ie then things seem to work fine.

I am glad to know I am not the only one seeing this problem. I had thought it was something in my settings, now I know my systems are ok. What do you mean by spoof the user-agent string ? ?

Opera, while not bad, will not be my primary choice until there is an easy way like Ad-Block for Opera) to control ads in that browser. They say there are a couple of methods, but just like the ones in IE8 or IE7 Pro, they either do not work or are extremely hard to get to work. AdBlock Plus in Firefox works and is simple to configure for a specific site.

I'm not sure this is something we would be able to fix, since it's only happening with an updated version of one browser, and apparently only either on your machine, or just Windows XP, since I just successfully logged in with the latest version of Opera using the forum login, with Windows 7.

It is not only on my pc or OS . see the post above by t3b4g5 ... it also occurs on other forums owned or administered by the Quinn. Seems like just a simple coding error. All you should need to do is compare the Login Code on the main page (which does work in Opera 10) with the Login Code on the Forum Login Page ... the error should be easy to spot and correct.
