What video card you figure on getting. That can influence the ps size real quick.

Open Box: ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard
Are you sure you want to go there? Open Box means it was shipped to some 14 year old kid and he sent it back (slight exaggeration with the 14 year old - but then again - you never know)

Yeah the open box, i know, could be whatever - but I'm not worried about it. They always check that sort of thing and worst case scenario I have to wait for a new one or something - saved me 30 bucks.

As for the Vid card, still unsure.

But can someone explain to me how ddr3 would work with this board?
My friend was describing tri-channel vs dual channel, etc, saying that if i threw one stick of 2 in vs 3 it wouldn't utilize the ddr3 portion of the memory?
I was originally planning on getting the mobo and seeing if it supported 4gb sticks, then tossing 2 or 3 of those into it, but worst case would be 4 2gb sticks, or 2x4gb and 1x2gb until i decide i want more memory.
Or even 1x 4gb and 1x 2gb. really all depends.

So question: What am i missing on ddr3? I read about it on wiki but can't really find any other literature on stacking the sticks.

FYI: I bought open box mobo from newegg once, and never will again. Not because of newegg, but because I did not realize they do not come with ANYTHING. Even the I/O shield for the back of the case. If you don't mind though then go for it, the board itself was absolutely fine.

Soo. I found out why the board was returned. Nothing about the board itself.
but the entire manual is in pure chinese.
=)
100%

Luckily. I kinda speak that language and have friends to help haha.
Wow also found the thing in English. easy.
And the mobo came with everything, the mobo itself was sealed too. But the manual had been opened. Apparently they thought no way about the chinese.
=)
