Laptop on for 12 hours a day for 2 months
I have an opportunity to get a Sony Viao Laptop VGN-NW240F/S (C2D-T6600, 15.5", 4GB, Wireless N). It's a display model. It's been on display for 2 months. Just thinking of the time left on, it's been on for 12 hours a day (Store hours 9am -9pm, weekends less).
$749, sale for $629, then get 10% off ($62.99) for Display. = $567.
I would jump on this, but keep thinking of the impact of a laptop being on, for up to 12 hours a day, 7 days a week (not even thinking of how many times it's been turned off without shutting down).
What kind of impact does it being on so long have on the quality of it? Obviously it has an effect, that's why I can get it cheaper. But how much?
Not to worried? No way, stay away from it?
Any input would help me decide.
Thank you,
Chris.

They should be cutting the price and running these
Steps to maximize the life of your battery
should do the trick to extend the life of the battery.

My lappers are Toshiba and I use that link. It sure helps.

Remember, I'm just the messenger on that. I'm kind of scared on this one now.
Thank you for replying,

There is a possibility of misuse, so I really do not blame you.
Nah, the battery does need to stay in the lapper as he stated, BUT, if you get it, do the calibration bit real soon.

Rode Hard and put up wet comes to mind....
The first thing you'd want to do is a fresh install...The thought of having 1698 different people jacking with the machine would keep you from being able to sleep at night unless you did a fresh install...
So you'd ONLY save 10% for it being a display model - not good enough for me...
If you've beendoing your home work and like the model over all others - get a new one.

Id have to agree with Steve on this one, I would have to say no, %10 wouldn't cut it for me, having every Tom Dick and Harry play with it and just nock %10 off. Are they offering any kind of warranty?
