    Adobe PDF Files Compressor

I am looking for a utility that can compress pdf files. I tried a couple by googling it, but they didn't work.

I need to reduce size of pdf files for email purposes.

    Thanks

You just need a compression utility. I don't see why it has to be pdf specific. 7zip is a good freebie.

PDF files are already highly compressed by their nature. You won't be able to shrink them much more.

I had some documents were saved as JPEG files and then I got them transferred into pdf files.

However my 38 pages transferred into a 25 MB PDf file.

I downloaded some pdf manuals. The manual's are like 25-35 page stored into a single 2-3 MB file.

I am trying to figure out what happened and why file sizes are so big.

I guess I may have to break them into smaller zip files (<10 MB).

    Thanks

The manuals you downloaded were most likely a text/picture mix. Text can be compressed in a PDF to a really small size.

A JPEG is already a highly compressed file and when you pull it into a PDF it can not be compressed much more if at all.

In Adobe Acrobat the is an option to reduce the file size of the PDF. I sometimes have success with this method but not always.

You best bet would be to try and OCR the JPEG files so you have a text / image mix when you create your PDF so you have a small page size instead of a page created by a JPEG.
