BSOD and then 4 bit color
Hi- I was updating my daughters Dell 8100 xp pro to service pack 3, including the updated video driver, and it ran fine for a short while. When I clicked on a desktop icon "network magic folders" and got a blue screen right away. Since then it starts in 640x480 and 4bit color, and will not let me change it. I can select the options but it never changes. IE won't run but firefox works. There are no problems listed in device manager. I was thinking of rolling back the video driver, in device manager, but it ran fine until the blue screen. Or should I restore to before the sp3? What do you think?
Thanks
I am trying not to make
the same mistake twice, again.

You can try rolling back the driver in Safe Mode. What were the details of the BSOD?

I don't know. I'll try the rollback and see.

Stark Raving MOD
including the updated video driver
NEVER use drivers off of Windows Update. That is asking for trouble. Hopefully the rollback works, otherwise, I would reinstall the manufacturer's drivers (Nvidia, ATI, Intel, etc)
