Processor speed

I have a Biostar mainboard A760G M2+ with a Amd Athlon X2 4850e processor. I am running 2gigs of ram and a Western Digital 750 GB Sata drive. When I boot the computer the bios splash screen lists the processor at 2.5ghz. When I check it in control panel system windows lists it as a 1gig processor which one should I believe. The bios is set for auto on the processor settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If Cool n' Quiet is enabled in the bios, the processor will clock down automatically.

Thanks that did it this is the first motherboard I got that didn't have a manual instead of a book they put it on the cd which makes it hard to reference it when your trying to trouble shoot the same computer. Thanks again
