move xp to new hard drive

Hi, I have a dell pc (dimension 3100) which came with xp pre-installed, but it came with no xp disk. This not not unusual for a dell pc. The problem is that I think the hard drive is on its way out, as it makes odd noises sometimes. So I want to copy xp from that hard drive to a new one, but have no idea how to do it.

If you can help with this please keep it simple if possible..

    thanks

1.) Buy a new hard drive.
2.) Go to the manufacturers website and download the clone utility they provide.
3.) Boot with the CD you made and copy the drive.

If the drive is dying, is it worth copying?

You would have had to create the Dell XP disc when you first bought the computer. Do you have another Dell XP disc anywhere else? You can use any Dell XP disc on a Dell.
