    Exclamation Start Up Problem

About a week when I woke up my computer was off (left it on that night). I went to go start it up and it wouldn't. Every once in a while the fans would move about a 1/4 of a inch like it was getting some power but the computer wouldn't turn on.
I thought it might of been the power supply so I bought a new one and tried that and it didn't work. So I figured it was the motherboard. Since my computer was kinda outdated I figured I'd order some new parts. Got a new mobo/hd/ram/cpu.

I put everything together and it wouldn't start. So I started to disconnect stuff to see if something was stopping it from starting up and found out whenever I connect my GeForce 8800GT video card the computer wouldn't start up again. When I hit the power button the fans would move about 1/4 inch then stop.

Does this mean my video card is broke or is there maybe a short somewhere? Any help would be great, thanks.

    There's a good chance it's a bad card:

There is no test for 8800 cards specifically. If you swap the card and the computer works, then you have a bad 8800.

    MK,
Granted, the OP likely has a card issue, but you agree with the Inquirer or your just making an observation ? The Gizmodo article implies all the cards are bad(the Inquirer link is dead) ...I can testify that ain't true ... 9600GT's and 9800GT's working fine here for some time now. And I've had no complaints from customers.

I can't say if it's 100% true or not, but it's a possibility. The story was big enough to cause concern. It was more focused on HP and other laptop boards using the G84/G86 chips.

Thx, I'll research it more thoroughly.
