Im not connected, but then again, I am.

I don't know what happened but my computer cannot access the internet. All I get now is address not found in firefox. The weird thing is my computer is conncted to my router. I can access the router, my squeezebox connects to the internet, and this old computer connects to the internet. I have no problems listed in device manager. I figure maybe its software but everything says it connected. Any help with this one is really appreciated.

    win xp sp2
    firefox

    Thanks

    What av/antispy are you running?

You can try running Winsockfix or LSPfix. Check the AV/Antispy link.

I use avg anti spy, and no-script for firefox. Haven't had any trouble for years with that kind of stuff. What is strange is that I can access the bad computer from my home network, and I csn access this computer from the bad computer, just cant access the internet from the bad computer. I'll try the winsock fix tonight and see how it goes. At least now I'm online with the backup computer. Thanks for the help.

Have you tried Internet Explorer? Firefox may be broken.

Sounds like your firewall/internet security program went south, try disabling it .

Try running a scan with Malewarebytes. There are some nasty virus/trojans running around now.

Winsockxpfix did the trick. Thank you Midknyte, and all those who helped.
