    Kaspersky or ESET NOD32?

Well guys, I know Kaspersky has always been the top recommendation here, but ESET NOD32 is getting consistently higher reviews just about everywhere I've looked.

Opinions? Or is there another current favorite, perhaps even of the free variety?

    Thanks.

Eset is the hands down choice. It puts far less drag on your system and employs unmatchable heuristics, so is able to nab undefined threats. I have had to pull and replace Kaspersky on several clients' machines, especially those using proxies.
Kaspersky has a great set of definitions, but the performance price is too high and support sucks.
In a word, Eset is trouble free (OK, two words), or as close to it as you are going to get.

Thanks. That definitely corroborates the user reviews I've read re: ESET.

This looks like it's a straightforward decision. Hopefully they've got a Vista 64-bit version for my newly built box

    Thanks.

If Midknyte says it is so, I know it is indeed so

I'm sold! I'll take it, I'll take it! I'm actually about to place the order today - wondering if you guys know if the downloadable trial version is fully-functional until my install CD arrives ... ?

When you pay, they send a product key that registers and unlocks the trial version to a full version.
