    ACPI Driver/Standby Issues

I'm having an issue with my computer when it enters standby.

In the past, when in sleep mode, the computer completely powers down; making it totally silent. The only indication that it was still running was a flashing power LED. Since I've formatted and installed XP Pro again, the system enters standby but remains running and noisy. I've installed all new OEM drivers and updates but I'm assuming I still need a non-M$ ACPI driver to pull this off.

    Any thoughts?

It sounds like Power Management settings in the BIOS have been reset to the default S1 Standby state which basically just shuts down the CPU. If you want quiet Standby, it should be set to S3.
