Google Chrome 1.0 released
Google Chrome just came out of beta *and there was much rejoicing*
If you just want to take it for a test drive, you can get Chrome portable.

If you can't read German, try the Translated site

It's different. There are some similarities to Opera and Firefox. It's cool that you can pull tabs out into their own instance. No plugins like Adblock Plus or anything, so that might be a deal breaker.
Speedwise, it's pretty fast. Just as fast or faster than most browsers out there.
Like I said, try the portable version if you only want to dabble. If you don't like it, just delete the portable folder. No harm, no foul.

Some notes on Chrome
Besides being Open Source, it's most desirable feature has to be its multi-threaded feature, so if one site frezes up, you don't have to shut down, closing all other browser windows, which can be annoying if you have to log in to some of these sites.
They don't make it easy to change your homepage. You have to copy and paste the address for your desired homepage.
If you don't wan't Google storing information about you, turn off every option that uses the word "suggestion".
The way it imports your bookmarks can be disconcerting to Mozilla users, but it is fairly easy to customize through a familiar explorer type bookmarks manager.
Because it is Open Source, if you don't like the EULA, you can download the source files, recompile it yourself and you are then free of all but the terms of the open BSD license.
As for plugins, they will likely be coming fast and furious in the near future.
I already have AdBlock working (such as it is).

Installation is quite easy, you just drag the link to your bookmarks folder.

Not quite the same as true plugins, but better than nothing. I'm sure independent development is going to bring us good things in the coming months.
